The history of the group
Our story
Racine Gamay was born from a simple observation made on the road between two appointments: a winemaker cannot be in the vineyard, the cellar, the office, and the sales field all at once.
Rather than choose, we decided to join forces. What drives us: crafting authentic wines, made exclusively from our own production, with a true terroir identity, respecting tradition and sustainable viticulture.

2019: two childhood friends on the roads of western France
Baptiste and Steeve grew up together. In 2019, Baptiste returned to the family estate after his Compagnons Tour de France. Steeve immediately saw his motivation and determination, and suggested they head out together to western France to present his cuvées.
The idea was simple: when one would approach wine shops and restaurants, he would also present the other's wines.
Over the miles, trade shows, and deliveries, the reality became clear: impossible to be everywhere at once. That's when the idea was born to join forces and sell their wines together.

Once the group was created, we quickly realized that we needed to represent more crus to meet real market demand. We wanted to grow even further.

Racine Gamay is founded with Sylvain Tête
Several Beaujolais crus are available. A single point of contact to order from multiple estates. Customers save time.
Julien Matray from Domaine du Père Jean joins
Julien Matray joins the adventure. The Racine Gamay range adds some great references from Brouilly and Côte de Brouilly.
Gaëtan Mélinon from Domaine Famille Mélinon joins
Gaëtan Mélinon joins the group with his Régnié and Morgon cuvées, which nicely round out the range already available.
Blandine Guérin from Domaine Blandine Guerrin joins
Blandine Guérin joins Racine Gamay with her Mâcon, Saint-Véran and Pouilly-Fuissé.
Geoffray Bénat from Domaine du Cotoyon joins
Geoffray Bénat joins Racine Gamay with his Juliénas and his Saint-Amour cuvée.

The collective
The birth of the collective
To be complementary, they needed to represent more Beaujolais crus. Baptiste and Steeve immediately thought of Sylvain Tête, who already had several.
So the three of them created Racine Gamay, though nothing happened overnight: it took several meetings to successfully unite and define a real common strategy.
Why the name Racine Gamay?
The day the name was found, we had a meeting at Baptiste's place to build our online presence. Sylvain was coming straight from a very lively day in Juliénas. He arrived late, very cheerful, his little glass in hand.
We laughed a lot, and it was finally that evening that the name "Racine Gamay" was born.
Which goes to show, Gamay inspires.
